[ ...hmm. he's not quite sure how to interpret that. ]

Oh? Is that so?

I suppose 'forcefulness' is one way to describe what saw my rise to success, yes.

[ in that he, you know, forced people to sell their companies to him while under his possession. sure! ]

[ ...hmm. something feels off about that comment but he can't quite tell what. ]

I'm not the type of man who likes to show weakness.

No, I merely save my vulnerability for those who I believe have earned it.
niceguyferatu: (he's like so whatever!)

Ah, my apologies. I mean you no offense, truly, but...my heart belongs to someone else. My deepest thoughts and feelings are reserved for her.

This? This is merely an indulgence.

Mmm, she's...beautiful. And she has an exceptionally brilliant mind to boot, whip smart and extremely skilled.

Yes, actually. In college, through a... [ clears his throat ] well, a mutual friend of ours at the time. We were all sort of outcasts, you see, passionate as we were about the paranormal sciences. And Maddie, oh, how she could solve theorems and lay down wiring was downright poetic. Her theory on the nature of gravity in parallel symbiotic worlds was truly inspired.

[ he's clearly daydreaming now. ]

[personal profile] niceguyferatu 2021-02-24 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. Ghosts and the afterlife, and the nature of such things. We...well, Maddie and I made some great breakthroughs in the field during those college days.

Oh, very. Granted, most of the world is unaware of them, but where there are hotspots, they are extremely common and very real.

Oh, a bit of everything, really. Although I do focus more on defense systems and...how should I put it...anthropology, perhaps? I quite like to study the physical properties of the Ghost Zone, as well as the form of society they have there.
niceguyferatu: (men deceive--that means you too girl!)

[personal profile] niceguyferatu 2021-02-25 05:59 am (UTC)(link)
Think of it as...a parallel world. When people die, sometimes they form ghosts, and those ghosts can only be formed in the ecto-energy omnipresent in the Ghost Zone. But the worlds are intrinsically linked. There are ways to cross from one to the other. But these natural portals are extremely rare and temporary, so it's uncommon for ghosts--or humans--to cross from one to the other unless an artificial portal is made.
niceguyferatu: (i believe it's a poopoo world)

[personal profile] niceguyferatu 2021-02-26 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I'd say it was more the other way around. It began as a personal curiosity that I focused on in my free time. But since the establishment of more artificial portals, ghosts have become more common in the human world, and it's created a thriving market for ghost defense technology. It's become a decent portion of my business.
