Well, usually in an investigation, the police don't release all the information to the public. Often the guilty party will reveal themselves by referring to a piece of information like that, that only the killer would know.
As a group, yes. That's why I'm wondering if we should spread out the responsibility so much. If only a few people did the investigation, they might be able to catch the culprit in a statement. But then, if one of them is the killer, we'd be in trouble....
